The Greater Spotted Eagle Tõnn is again on the move [El águila moteada Tõnn en camino hacia el Sur]

As confirmed by the Estonian team that marked and follows the famous Greater Spotted Eagle Tõnn (Aquila clanga) that overwintered last year in Spain, at El Hondo reservoir, Alicante, the bird is on its Sourthbound way already. As informed in their blog here, the bird has left Estonia and it is almost in France by now (see a map from their blog below), so it's expected it will follow the same trip as last year. Would be observers in Spain be ready!

Según confirmación del equipo estonio que marcó y sigue el águila moteada (Aquila clanga) Tõnn que invernó el año pasado en España, en el El Hondo , Alicante, el ave está de camino hacia el sur ya estos dias. Como se muestra en su blog, el ave ha dejado ya Estonia y esta el domingo 20.9 casi en Francia (véase el mapa cortesía de Looduskalender) Como se muestra en inglés en su blog aquí, el ave va directa hacia el SW por lo que se espera que siga el viaje del año pasado y pueda llegar a España. Atentos posibles observadores!.

26.9.2009 Update

Tõnn has moved further South and by 24.9 it was near Switzerland in the French border,as if heading south to Camargue and afterwards Iberia... Interestingly, in El Hondo area, Alicante, Spain, another Great Spotted Eagle has been already recorded (see Rarebirdspain website here)

Tõnn, el águila moteada, se está moviendo hacia el sur y el 24.9 estaba entre Francia y Suiza, como si se fuese hacia el Sur hacia la Camarga y luego la Península. Es interesante notar que otra moteada se ha visto ya en la zona del Hondo, Alicante (véase la web Rarebirdspain)
