Durante el 26-28.9.2014 se celebró en el Delta de l'Ebre, Tarragona el Delta Birding Festival , un evento de interés ornitológico en el que se combinaban actividades en el marco de las Salinas de Sant Antoni, junto a la laguna de la Tancada, con sorteos muy atractivos (como el de un telescopio Swarovski valorado en 4.500€ pero también unos prismáticos o una cámara de fototrampeo), actividades familiares y conferencias de primerísimo nivel para los aficionados 'dead-ahead' al birdwatching, pero también para los naturalistas y fotógrafos en general. Una oferta completa y, a mi juicio que pude estar y dar una charla -algo accidentada con corte de luz incluido- extremadamente atractiva, del estilo y sin desmerecer al holandés Dutch Vogeldag y en la onda de la British Birdwatching Fair , tan anhelada o referenciada por algunos otros certámenes. The arrival of Pectoral, Buff-breasted and Semipalmated Sandpipers has given the opportunity of capturing some videos of them. Here we enclose three samples: a Pectoral Sandpiper from Ebro Delta, Tarragona on 20.9 (Ricard Gutiérrez), a Buff-breasted Sandpiper from Colindres, Cantabria (Nazario Bocos) and a Semipalmated Sandpiper from Asturies (Marco García Gala). De Juana (2006) lists 149 records of Pectoral Sandpiper in Spain, involving 163 individuals. From 1 st July to 15 th September 2008, a total of 36 individuals in 24 different records, some involving 3, 4 or 5 birds altogether have been recorded in the whole of Spain (see rarebirdspain.net for details). This is an unprecedented record which beats the year 2003 in which 20 birds in 18 records were accepted by the Spanish Rarities Committee. The distribution of the sightings has a clear Eastern bias, suggesting an Asian origin rather than a transatlantic vagrancy of the birds. First having a bunch of adults in July and August, September has brought a high number of juveniles to date. Distribution maps from August and first half of September show first an arrival of birds to the Mediterranean basin (where three had been seen in July) and singles at Asturies and Navarra. Foto: ©Ricard Gutiérrez. 20.2.2008 El censo invernal de enero de 2008 del Parc Natural del Delta de l’Ebre será recordado por la altísima cantidad de ejemplares invernantes (más de 370000 individuos de diferentes especies, fuente: PNDE). Entre ellas aparecen algunas rarezas, cosa no excesivamente inusual en el Delta (recuérdense casos de invernada de Andarríos del Terek, por ejemplo), como es el caso en 2008 de 3 ejemplares de Flamenco enano Phoenicopterus minor o, primer caso registrado en España, y posiblemente Europa continental (hay alguna cita de enero en Gran Bretaña), de invernada de Correlimos Pectoral Calidris melanotos . Este ejemplar invernante fue visto al menos el 7.11.2007 en arrozales próximos a la estación de bombeo de Illa de Riu (Andris Klepers, Inita Sakne, Eugeni Capella, Cristian Jensen/Audouin Birding Tours) y se ha ido citando regularmente por diferentes observadores desde entonces y al menos hasta hoy mismo (20.2.2008, Ricard Gutiérrez, foto).
