C4. THAYER'S GULL Larus thayeri (1) 1ST FOR SPAIN
(1) Lugo On 20.3.2010 a gull was seen at Lago, Xove, Lugo (Ricardo Rodríguez, David Calleja). That bird featured in the March 2010 page was believed to be a Thayer's Gull, the 1st for Spain. Confirmation of this suspite came recently when gull and ID specialist Alvaro Jaramillo commented on that bird in Spanish:

More interestingly, on 13.3.2011, a Thayer's Gull was seen at San Ciprián, Lugo. See photos below and a thumbnail in the right column. Later, some observers have come to see the gull. It is believed to be the same individual, one year later, thus, the 1st for Spain (Raul Carrillo & David Calleja; Toño Salazar; Ricardo Hevia; Dani Lopez, Nacho Castelao, Manuel Quintana & Conchi Ovín). Not seen on 19.3 but relocated on 20.3 (Antonio Gutiérrez) and still present on 21.3 morning (Fernando Pereiras; Raúl Carrillo)
